Activated carbon Odour control units using adsorption system

Activated Carbon Adsorption System

Activated carbon-based odour control system work on the principle of adsorption, which adsorbs the odorous gas molecule to the surface of the media and oxidise the odorous gas and release the odourless gases to the atmosphere. Activated carbon media shall be selected based on the odour to be treated. For wastewater odour removal applications, filtration media are selected suitable for removing Hydrogen sulphide, Ammonia, VOCs and Mercaptans. There are different types of adsorption media available for odour control applications, ranging from virgin activated carbon, chemically impregnated carbon, catalytic activated carbon, etc. There are chemically impregnated activated carbon media and specially treated catalytic activated carbon media available for sewage odours removal applications. Most preferred adsorption media for wastewater odour removal application is water regenerable catalytic activated media, as it lasts longer, cleaning in-place, doesn’t require any chemicals for cleaning and environment- friendly. Consistent odour removal efficiency of 99.9% or higher can be achieved by a suitably designed activated carbon adsorption-based odour control system.

Manhole Odour control Filter

AQOZA Odvent is a specially designed unit for odour removal in manholes, vents and septic tanks, where odour removal happens by natural ventilations. It is a simple and safe equipment to install and maintain; also it doesn’t require any operator attention. It doesn’t require any power supply or water connection for its operation. The standard Odovent unit can work up to 80 m3/hr air flow.

Passive Odour control unit

AQOZA Passive odour control unit is designed to remove odour gases from small lifting stations and manholes, where odour removal happens by natural ventilation with water level changes in the lifting stations / manholes. This unit doesn’t required any power or water connection during its operation. One of the preferred type of odour control system for remote lifting stations and manholes. Standard passive units air flow ranging from 100 m3/hr to 600 m3/hr.

Active Odour control unit

AQOZA has a series of standard active odour control units are specially designed systems for removing odour from small lifting stations, collection tanks and wastewater treatment plants. The unit is compact, easy to install and operate. With limited operator attention, unit can be operated by in-house treatment plant operators. The unit is highly efficient in removing odour and continuously achieve 99.9% or higher in odour removing efficiency. It comes with odour extraction fan, which continuously extract the odour gases from the source tank and will make sure gas concentration within the source tank is minimum and treated will have odour below the detectable levels. Standard unit capacities are ranging from 250 m3/hr, 400 m3/hr, 600 m3/hr and 1,000 m3/hr.

Custom Engineered Odour control unit

Custom engineered Odour control units are also based on fan assisted active odour control unit, which are designed and manufactured as per client specifications and requirements. If client doesn’t have clarity or specific requirements in odour control system, our technical experts evaluate the problems and challenges faced by clients and prove the most suitable & reliable tailor-made solution for the specific odour emission issues. With gas monitoring sensors, the system will ensure the odour control is happening as designed. Filtration media are selected based on the gases to be removed and life expectancy of the filtration media. Water regenerable catalytic activated carbon media are one of the most preferred filtration media in wastewater odour removal applications.

Biological Oxidation Odour control system

Industry knowledge and field experience AQOZA has made it possible to adapt to the most eco-friendly technologies in odour control applications. AQOZA offers proven system in biological odour control applications, which efficiently removes odour gases like hydrogen sulphide, mercaptans and VOCs in wastewater odour removal applications.

AQOZA Bio-Scrubber

AQOZA Bio-scrubber works on the principle of absorption and biological oxidation of gases by microorganisms. Highly porous inorganic media are filled in the Bio-scrubber tower, for microorganism growth and to increase the contact time of polluted air with microorganism. Nutrient rich water is continuously re-circulated and sprinkled over the media to keep the system moist all the time. pH of the re-circulated water is being maintained as desired for the microorganisms to sustain within the Bio-scrubber tower. Odour removal efficiency of 99% or can be achieved consistently by considering the required contact time and by maintaining optimum operational parameters of the Bio-scrubber as designed. AQOZA offer, fully automated PLC programmed system to operate the unit with limited operator assistance. The system continuously monitors and maintain the operating parameters by itself with the help integrated sensors. This made the client and operator life easy and reduces the recurring cost considerably comparing conventional chemical scrubbers in odour removal applications.

In-order to improve and meet higher odour removal efficiency, municipalities prefer dual stage odour control system with first stage Bio-scrubber followed by activated carbon adsorption system. With this combination, odour removal efficiency of 99.9% or higher can be achieved all the time, even in case the biological system is out of order. This combination system also reduces the operating cost by reducing replacement cost of filtration media, as the majority of odour removal happens at the first stage of the bio-scrubber unit.
